Up to 7 times better efficiency compared to skylights with a flexible sleeve (length over 2m). Due to the use of cutting edge technology in the reflective surface, the Eco Light Tunnel’s rigid tubing delivers much more light than the commonly used flexible light-carrying sleeves. The construction of the rigid tubes allows for the light to be transferred over distances unattainable for flexible sleeves, because there is almost no loss of light in the process. The light reflection coefficient of the UltraBright tube is 99.5%. Therefore, by short distances (up to 1m), the performance of rigid tubing is about twice as good as that of a flexible sleeve with an identical length and diameter. This difference increases together with the length of the UltraBright tube, which, for distances over 2 metres, is about 700% more efficient than the standard solution. The efficiency of light transmission is particularly important on cloudy days, which predominate during the year. The application of the more efficient UltraBright tubing instead of flexible sleeves can also decrease the total cost, as a lower number of rigid tube skylights is sufficient to achieve a required level of lighting.
The tubular skylight components In general, a tubular skylight comprises a top part, a bottom part and a reflective tube. - a dome - a roof flashing combined with the top frame and the upper reflective ring (installed on the roof) - a ceiling frame and housing frame with the bottom ring - a dual diffuser in the seal guaranteeing good insulation
The reflective tube is matched to the distance between the bottom part and the top part, which is usually the thickness of the roof structure.
- An adjustable elbow alters the angle of the rigid reflective tube. It is required for installing the tubular skylight on pitched roofs. - a lead roof adapter used for bold tiled or profile roofs - binders are used for reflective tubes longer than 3.6m - an insulation base used in some cases when installing the tubular skylights on flat roofs - an electric light kit allows for illumination of the room with the tubular skylight after dark
In most buildings there are rooms that could benefit from more light. Thanks to the use of the Eco Light Tunnel tubular skylight, natural sunlight will reach these areas. Eco light tunnel works in a very simple way. Sunlight coming from different directions is absorbed by a dome installed on the roof. It then directs the sunlight into an aluminium tubing covered with reflective layers characterized by maximum light reflection coefficient (higher than that of a traditional mirror). This material does not deteriorate with time. The light is subsequently transferred to a prismatic or matt diffuser by way of mirror reflections. Non-polarized light coming into the room brightens the area evenly and does not cause reflexes on smooth surfaces (e.g. computer displays, screens). Regardless of the weather conditions outside, the light in the room has a much higher faithful colour rendering index than artificial light sources. It is also possible to use the tubular skylight at night by installing in it an electric light kit that functions as a lamp. Rigid tube skylights are available in three sizes: 25cm, 35cm and 55cm
The Specifications section of the website contains detailed information on the components’ dimensions. The use of the Eco Light Tunnel The Eco Light Tunnel tubular skylight can be used to provide additional illumination in: - residential rooms, kitchens, bathrooms, - offices, - production halls, - storehouses, - workstations, - staircases, - corridors, - garages, - passageways, - basements, - public utility buildings, - pharmacies and hospitals, - sport facilities, and many other.
Eco Light Tunnel tubular skylights are particularly recommended for children’s rooms, classrooms, computer rooms, reading rooms, precision work areas, workshops and production halls, as well as any areas that require intensive use of sight. Rooms with additional lighting from Eco Light Tunnel skylights are more cosy and friendly. Natural light has a positive influence on the wellbeing and health of our close ones; it prevents drowsiness, weariness and depression. Scientific research clearly shows a very positive effect of natural light on the human body (improved state of mind, increased psychophysical performance, resistance to stress and depression, a higher level of concentration and intellectual activity). Tubular skylights also have a positive impact on the development of plants deprived of access to daylight. Characteristics The Eco Light Tunnel tubular skylights are characterized by durability and resistance to changing weather conditions. They are easy to install and their use does not imply any further costs. They can be installed on virtually any type of roof, including flat roofs, regardless of the material used on the top. The rigid UltraBright reflective tubing ensures maximum light transmission. This allows for an effective use of even the smallest amount of light caught by the skylight. The tubular skylight’s structure is adjusted to the weather conditions in Central Europe. The dual diffuser’s seal guarantees high quality heat insulation. Owing to this, the lighted room is neither heated nor cooled exceedingly, which is the case when using windows or tubular skylights not equipped with sealed dual diffusers.
